Richard Gerard Fleury's Obituary
Richard Gerard (Rick) Fleury, 63, of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Metron of Big Rapids after a lengthy illness.
He was born August 2, 1955 in Mount Clemens, MI, the son of Ralph and Marie (Renaud) Fleury. Rick was 6th in a family of 8 children, 6 of whom were boys. Originally from Roseville, MI and raised on Lake St. Clair, he graduated from L'anse Creuse High School in 1973.
Rick served his country in the U.S. Navy for 6 years, 1980-1986. He worked in carpentry and apartment building maintenance, enjoying the problem-solving challenges. Rick was very well read; enjoying literature, history, geography, and current events. He was also an avid computer user.
Rick is survived by his 2 sisters, Jeanette Fleury of Big Rapids and Beth (Arch) Fleury/Van Meter of Barrington, IL; his 2 brothers, Frank (Karen) Fleury of Rochester Hills and Ron (Tami) Fleury of Mecosta; sister-in-law Lisa Fleury; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Anna Mae Fleury, brothers, Phillip, Fred, and Jerry Fleury, sister-in-law Sandy Fleury, brother-in-law Jan Martin, and beloved nephew Andrew Fleury.
Later this summer his family will gather to bury his cremains in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI, with military honors.
