Richard Delvin Hinton's Obituary
Richard Delvin Hinton, age 73, of Vestaburg, Michigan peacefully passed away at his home, on Monday, March 7, 2022. Dick was born in Reed City on April 8, 1948, to parents Delvin and Ilah (DuBois) Hinton. He grew up in St. Louis with his brother, Stanley, and sisters, Susan, and Sharon. Dick graduated from St. Louis High School in 1967. He was married to Susanne Williams shortly after graduation. On March 1, 1968, Richard was inducted into the United States Army. After serving in Vietnam as a tank operator, he was honorably discharged on February 27, 1970.
After coming home from the service Dick enjoyed living. His hobbies included building and restoring classic cars, riding motorcycles, and visiting car shows. His pets were important to him, and he loved his dogs very much. He was a hardworking man who liked to look nice and keep a clean house. He also enjoyed the outdoors and traveling to beautiful places. Dick went hunting one time on his property and bagged an 8-point buck. He hung the buck on the wall and never went back out again. He had several jobs over the years. He retired from his last job, at Contech, where he worked as a die-cast operator for 20 plus years.
During his time working in Alma at Contech, Dick met Phyllis "Jeannie" Lutge. They were never married but because of Jeannie, Dick was able to experience becoming a father and grandfather to Jeannie's children and grandchildren. They shared 30 years of life together. Dancing, laughing, model car collecting, and decorating and hosting family Christmas parties were things they delighted in. They both took a lot of pride in their flower beds, yard work, and home making.
Richard will be greatly missed by sisters Susan Denman of St. Louis and Sharon and Butch Lofton of Lake. First wife, Susanne (Williams) Parker, daughter, Kelly Wise, grandson, Calvin Moffett also survives Richard. His beloved dog, Barbie, and special neighbors, Steven and Jessica Schaub will be missing him too. Several other nieces and nephews survive. Richard is preceded in death by both parents Delvin and Ilah, a brother-in-law, Doug Denman and lifelong girlfriend, Jeannie Lutge.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held on his birthday, April 8th, 2022, at M-46 Tabernacle Family Ministries in Riverdale. Family will be greeting friends at 11:00am until the service begins at 12:00pm. A gathering and lunch will immediately follow the service.
