Richard V. Johnson's Obituary
Richard V. Johnson, age 72, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday March 7, 2013. Richard was born in Waukegan, Illinois on May 4, 1940 and lived there while he grew up. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Illinois and his Master's from Northern Illinois. After a few years of teaching at Northern Illinois and Duluth State, he migrated to Ferris State College. Richard was a member of the Accounting Department in the College of Business from 1966 to 1998, when he retired. Richard was an avid reader, collector and flower gardener. There was very little that he hadn't read or seen firsthand. At one time, Richard grew the most beautiful roses and would gift them to his friends. He wanted to see them smile! Richard was also a lover of animals, and he could often be seen in his auto with at least three or four dogs accompanying him to wherever he was going. He made many good friends in the Big Rapids area. He will be greatly missed. Richard is survived by his brother, Robert of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmet and Zella, as well as a brother, Kenneth and a sister, Carol.
