Richard Lindsey's Obituary
Big Rapids - Richard Lee Lindsey, 76, of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 8, 1941, in Lakeview, the son of Byron Lee and Adora W. (Ressegoye) Lindsey, and graduated from Big Rapids High School. Dick was a self-employed General Contractor, working throughout the state of Michigan for many years until retiring. When his children were younger, he loved camping with them at the Haymarsh State Game Area and along the banks of the Muskegon River. In his earlier years, Dick loved to hunt, attend auctions and flea markets, and was a member of the Big Rapids Swinging Eight Square Dance Club. He was always an avid bowler, and enjoyed travelling in his later years. Dick was also a member of Immanual Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. On September 3, 2005, he married Belle Ann Stickney, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Tammy (Adolph) Flores of Grand Rapids, Tina (Mark) Seymour of Palm Bay, FL, Stacey (Pete) Hector of Big Rapids, Chad (Jen) Lindsey of Canadian Lakes, Vicky (Chris) Byrne of Belding, Penny (Steve) Stilson of Morley; 4 sisters, Marie Mishler and Treva Owen, both of Big Rapids, Sandy (Rob) Werner of Canadian Lakes, Terry (Ed) Gilmore of Chippewa Lake; brother-in-law Dan Lenon of Stanwood; sister-in-law Lora Lyman of Port Richey, FL; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his first wife Marilynn Engstrom in 2004, daughter Brenda LeButt, son Rickland Scholz, brother Frank, brother Ronald and his wife Betty, sister Jeane Lenon, and brothers-in-law Darwin Mishler and Charles Owen. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with his good friend Bill Routley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Plains Cemetery in Colfax Township. Dick's family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 28, from 5-8 p.m., and prior to services on Friday. Memorial contributions in his name may be made for Heartland Hospice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
