Richard J. Martineau's Obituary
Richard J. "Dick" Martineau, age 83, of Big Rapids passed away November 12, 2012 at his home. He was born February 14, 1929 in Ecorse, Michigan, the son of Joseph and Helen Martineau. He served with the US Army from 1946 to 1949. Dick retired from Ford Motor Company in Detroit and Big Rapids became his new home in 1986. Since 1954 he was an active Knights of Columbus member of the Allen Park, MI Council 3774 and Big Rapids, MI Council 1300, where he was Grand Knight from 1988 to 1990 and Reed City, MI Council 12668. Dick was also a member of the Reed City Moose Lodge 705 and Reed City AmVets Post 2965. He was a Boy Scout Master for 4 years while in Allen Park with his 2 sons. Dick is survived by his wife of 64 years; Juanita O. (Perfetti), his 2 daughters; Holly (Dwight) Eads of Hersey and Mendy (Dave) Perkins of Big Rapids, 2 sons; Matthew (Julie) of Burlington, Iowa and Russell (Maureen) of Pace, Florida, 4 grandsons; J.J. (Chastity) Eads of Reed City, Davy Perkins of Big Rapids, Mitchell Martineau of the US Marine Corps, Arizona and Justin Martineau of Tennessee, 2 granddaughters; Artabelle (Chase) Roach of Reed City, and Martinique Perfetti of the US Marine Corps, Virginia, Three great-grandchildren; RylieAnne and Dominic Roach, and Kellen Eads, all of Reed City. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Father Loc Trinh officiating. Friends may visit the family from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Burial will be at St. Ann's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that Memorial Contributions be given to the Hospice of Michigan, Big Rapids or the Mecosta County Commission on Aging.
