Robert Benjamin Bowman's Obituary
Big Rapids- Robert Benjamin Bowman, 86, of Big Rapids went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 25, 2010. He was born April 10,1924 in Big Rapids, the son of Clyde and Ida (Bartoo) Bowman. Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Anna whom he married in Big Rapids on October 27, 1941, five children: James (Rebecca) Bowman, Gloria (Dale) Weeks, Barbara (Bob) Huttinga, Mary (Mike) Bowman-Bowerfind and Robert (Marla) Bowman, 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren plus two sisters Pat (Gerald) Johanson and Gladys Brown. Also surviving, two sisters-in-law Violet Bowman and Wilma Bowman. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Maurice, John, Clyde (Jr); William and James,also a sister, Eileen Montegue. Bob served honorably in the United States Marine Corp during World War II in the South Pacific. He belonged to Pipe Fitters Local #70 in Grand Rapids for over 50 years. He was a building trade welder and pipe line welder. Bob liked to hunt, fish and fly his airplane and enjoyed retirement in Florida for over 20 years. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Petersen officiating. Bobs family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made in Bobs honor to a charity of your choice.
