Robert Gerald Johnson's Obituary
Robert ( Bob) Johnson, age 86, of Lakeview passed away peacefully at
home on Saturday, July 2, 2022 surrounded by family. Bob was born
January 6, 1936 at the family farm where he grew up and spent most of
his life. He graduated from Lakeview High School and Michigan State
University with honors and a degree in agriculture to take over the
family farm. After college Bob served 2 years in the army while
stationed at Fort Gordon. When asked what was the best part of the
service, he would always answer meeting Faye, his wife and partner of
the past 62 years. Bob enjoyed his life as a farmer. Although it's a
demanding profession to pursue , he got great joy and satisfaction from
what he could create with his hands and hard work. After retiring from
the dairy part of the business he continued to follow his passion for
the outdoors with his garden and the impeccably straight rows of
veggies. To know Bob is to understand that he was a man of few words but
his warm smile always made you feel welcome. He was a quiet, gentle soul
that cherished family and nature.
Bob is loved and will be missed by his wife Faye and his three sons,
Daryl (Jackie) Johnson of Lakeview. Dale (Jay) Johnson Chicago IL. David
(Ann) Johnson of Senoia GA. Grand children Danielle (Aaron) Lindloff of
Lakeview. Allison Johnson of Athens GA. Kirsten Johnson of Lakeview.
Rachelle (Andy) DeVries of Hudsonville and five great grandchildren.
Also surviving is sister Donna Bieri, Lowell and sister-in-law Dorita
Johnson, Grand Rapids.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Nora
(Christensen)Johnson, brother Russell ( Jack) Johnson , sister and
brother-in-law Barbara and Lee Larsen, brother-in-law Ken Bieri.
In keeping with his wishes, Bob's ashes will be spread on the back hill
of the farm so he can keep a watchful presence and continue to enjoy
what he spent a lifetime building. Donations in his memory and
celebration of his life can be made to support the construction of the
Lakeview Area Veterans Monument. Checks can be mailed to the Greenville
