Robert Roy Smith's Obituary
Canadian Lakes- Robert Roy Smith, 76, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011. He was born on September 11, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Roy and Alice (Foreman) Smith. Robert retired on January 2, 1989 as Floor Inspector for General Motors Warren Transmission Plant after 36 years of service. He moved to Canadian Lakes after retiring and attended St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. On December 12, 1965, he married Leila "Lee" Barr, who survives. Also surviving are six children; Karyn (Gary) Mason of Almont, Linda (Joseph) Mannone of Frasier, Wolfgang Diehr of Emmett, Raymond (Chaundra) Smith of Clinton Township, Robert Roy Smith, II of Muskegon and Sandra (Nick) Chartier of Amarillo, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Christal, Ashley, Demitria, Damien, Alicen, Anthony, Andrea, Christianna, Stephanie, Trevor, Leila and Rebecca; 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Wagner of Sterling Heights; and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by a daughter, April, a grandson, Jameson, and two brothers, Ronald and Paul. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland View Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Roberts honor may be made to the Mecosta County Medical Center Cardiac Rehabilation Center. Envelopes are available at the funeral home, where his family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m., and prior to services on Thursday. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ??
