Robert S. Wickenden's Obituary
Goodrich - Robert S. Wickenden, age 90, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, at Genesys Hospice in Goodrich. He was born on August 9, 1921 in Park Ridge, NJ, the son of Arthur E. and Ada (Merton) Wickenden, and graduated from Park Ridge High School in 1938. On May 3, 1942, he married Eleanor Schavel. During WWII, Bob served with the 1st Cavalry 99th Artillery Division in the Pacific Theatre. Following his discharge in 1945, Bob returned to New Jersey, and worked in sales for American Standard for 17 years. In 1963, he moved to Michigan, and worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield until retiring in 1983. While living in Big Rapids, Bob and Ellie were members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Bob is survived by his wife; three children, Bonnie (Chris) Moore of Davisburg, Pete (Cristy) Wickenden of Big Rapids, and Candice (Lou) Pascarella of Ferndale; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Craig, one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Burial will be in the Highland View Cemetery. Bob's family will greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
