Robert Lee Wyckoff's Obituary
Big Rapids- Robert Lee Wyckoff, 88, passed away in Big Rapids on Friday January 13, 2017. He was born on June 5, 1928 in Greenville, Michigan, the son to Howard and Marjorie (Kreeger) Wyckoff. He graduated from Bennett High School in Buffalo, New York, and was a member of the Gemology Institute of America, the American Gem Society and a lifetime member of the Big Rapids Elks Club. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, nephew, and a mentor to many. He taught us how to live our lives with integrity and the value of a strong work ethic. He was a certified watchmaker and jeweler and served several generations of customers in both Big Rapids and Greenville who trusted him and enlisted his help with jewelry and coins. Bob is survived by his loving wife Judy; son Mark; daughters Kay Babcock and Wendy VanZegeren; as well as, a step-daughters Susan Slack, Diane Smith, Julie Greene, and Mary (Joe) Klotz. Bob and Judy's love of the outdoors included hunting, fishing, and golfing, and their love of nature was enjoyed every day from their living room watching activity and animals along the Muskegon River. They enjoyed annual trips to the Bahamas where they had a time share purchased in 1979. They enjoyed spending time with family and special friends there, fishing, diving, spearing, and where he served on the Westwind Club Board for many years. Bob's family also includes grandchildren Scott Moorhead, Kevin Babcock, Kathryn Piening, Casady Wyckoff, Hallie Wyckoff, Ali Slack, Michael Greene, John Greene, and Austin McCrory; great grandchildren Scott Moorhead, Jr., Kathryn Moorhead, Avery Babcock, and Morgan Piening; and cousin Hal (Mary) Kreeger. He was preceded in death by his parents and a very special aunt, Roma Dart. There will be a celebration of life at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, Michigan. Following a brief ceremony, the family will be available for visitation. Per Bob's wishes, his body is being donated for medical research. In lieu of flowers or for those that wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Manna Pantry of Big Rapids, 3151 S. State St., Big Rapids, MI 49307.
