Roderick "Butch" R. Wing's Obituary
Roderick "Butch" R. Wing of Vestaburg, age 75, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 at his home. Rod was born the son of Leo and Ilah (Kress) Wing on April 9, 1940 on the family farm in Sumner, MI. He was united in marriage to the former Mary Foster on January 16, 1959 at Elm Hall, MI. Rod worked for Lobdell-Emery for 41 years in Alma, MI until his retirement. He enjoyed collecting stones, camping, music jamborees, senior dinners in Winn, MI, fishing and going to flee markets. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Roderick is survived by his loving wife; Mary, children; William "Chuck" Wing , of Crystal, MI, Kenneth (Bobbie) Wing, of Vestaburg, MI, Duane Wing, of Riverdale, MI and Cynthia Feiss, of Vestaburg, MI, brothers and sisters; Frederick (Joan) Wing, of Vestaburg, MI, Steven (Chris) Wing, of Ithaca, MI, Kathleen (Jack) Gibson, of Crystal, MI Walter Wing, of Riverdale, Janet (Larry) Bradley of Vestaburg, MI and June (Clare) Guthrie, of Mt. Pleasant, MI, 12 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Rod was preceded in death by; his parents; and a brother, Richard Wing.
A Celebration of Life Service is being held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from M46 Tabernacle, 11098 E. Howard City-Edmore Rd. Riverdale, MI. with Pastors Dan Skirvin, Randy Peterson and Jack Skirvin to officiate. Visitation will take place Tuesday, May 26, 2015 also from M46 Tabernacle from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Interment will take place in Ferris Township Cemetery. Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider the "Wishes of the Family".
