Rodney D. Culy's Obituary
Rodney D. Culy age 74 of Mecosta passed away Friday March 23, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 28, 1937 in Grand Ledge, Michigan the son of Noble and Ersa Mae (Heilman) Culy. Following graduation from Grand Ledge High School he served in the United States Air Force. Upon returning from service Rodney went to work for Consumers Power Co. , retiring in 1996 after 31 years of service. He was a hunter safety instructor at the Mecosta Rod and Gun Club and was an avid fan of high school athletics. Rodney is survived by Sally, his wife of 53 years, one daughter, Amy Sue Cantrell of Mecosta, seven grandsons, Justin (Annie) Kobus, Matthew (Teri) Cantrell, Corey Culy, Tyler Cantrell, Casey Culy, Jesse (Krista) Cantrell,and Nicholas Culy, plus 8 great grandchildren, Hunter, Mikayla, Logan, Preston, Callan, Blaine, Kyris, and Jaedyn. Also surviving are one brother, Gary of Mecosta and two sisters, Linda Scott and Sherry (Larry) Beidel, both of St. Johns. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, and one son Blaine William Culy. A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Thurlan Meredith officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
