Ronald Edward Brousseau's Obituary
Ronald Edward Brousseau, age 83, of Croswell, Michigan, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026. He was born on November 2, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to Patrick and Viola (Smalley) Brousseau. Ron grew up in the Detroit area. He spent many years traveling to Cedar Lake, where he stayed the summers with his grandparents, and would eventually move to, attending the Cedar Lake Academy. Ron later met his future wife, Judith Ann Coles, in Edmore, the couple married on May 2, 1964, at the First Church of God in Edmore.
After his school years, Ron served honorably as a private in the United States Army, stationed in Germany just before the Vietnam War. He was a personal carrier driver, later a gunner for the 81st mortar company and a sharpshooter during his service. After his military service, Ron began a 40-year career at Pontiac Motors. He would retire from GM in 2002.
Ron was a kind and generous man who loved traveling with his family to fun destinations like Disney World, Cedar Point, and SeaWorld. He also had a passion for gardening, especially in growing large gardens with tomatoes and cucumbers. In his spare time, he enjoyed home improvements and woodworking and reading Louis L'Amour westerns. Faith was an important part of Ron’s life, deeply rooted in his childhood, as his family were longtime members of the Cedar Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Ron is survived and missed by daughter, Judith (David) Brown; grandchildren, Jason (Monica) Brown, Jessica Santana, and Julia Brown; great-grandchildren, Clare Brown, Lincoln Randall, Ayla Randall, and Victoria Frazer; brother, Donald Brousseau, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Judith, infant daughter Penny Lea, sisters JoAnne, Patricia, Gladys, Sharon, Violet, and brother James.
A funeral to honor and remember Ron will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, in Edmore at the Janowicz Family Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Alexander officiating. Family will greet guests from 10:00 AM until the service begins at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Cedar Lake Cemetery.
