Ronald Lynn Sack's Obituary
Big Rapids - Ronald L. Sack, 79, of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Altercare of Big Rapids, following a seven-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
He was born January 4, 1942, in Big Rapids, the son of Otto and Ruth (Schippa) Sack. Ron attended St. Peter's Lutheran School, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army for several years and returned to Big Rapids following his honorary discharge.
For nearly 50 years, Ron worked for Liberty Dairy, and later Dean Foods, retiring as Assistant Manager. He was a longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Ron was a hard-working man, keeping busy with his woodworking and building projects. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, and loved spending time with children and animals.
On April 17, 1965, Ron married Judi (Smith), who survives. Also surviving are their children, Rick (Brenda) Sack of Rockford, Todd Sack of East Grand Rapids, and Deana (Theodore) St. James of Forest Hills; his sister Annie Clements; his in-laws Scott and Candace Smith, Debbie and John Metcalf, and Tim and Michelle Smith; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Dorothy and H.L. "Doc" King, Glenn and Marie Sack, Elizabeth and George Oleson, Beatrice and Frank Marlette, Gene and Avis Smith (in-laws), and Ron Clements.
Ron's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Big Rapids Fields for their kindness and excellent care.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 19, 2021, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Roger Mackie officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #98 Honor Guard. Ron's family will greet friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made for St. Peter's Lutheran Church, or the Alzheimer's' Association.
