Ronald Gordon Witmer's Obituary
Ronald Gordon Witmer, age 84, of Riverdale, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at his home with family by his side. Ronald was born August 20, 1932 in Detroit, MI, the son of Gordon Guy and Goldie Nina (Kleinhardt) Witmer. He was raised in the Detroit and then Clair areas and attended Beverton Public Schools. Ron was a Carpenter in home construction over 60 years. Ronald married Mary Ethel Starr on May 3, 1957 in Mt Pleasant. After they married, Ronald and Mary moved to the Riverdale and Vestaburg areas where, together, they had resided over 60 years. Ronald enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and playing guitar. He loved spending time with family and friends. Ronald was a member of St Louis Holiness Church.
Ronald will be missed by his wife Mary Witmer of Riverdale; two daughters, Ronda (Terry) Bickel of McDonald, Pa, Pam (Jim) Bickel of Stoneboro, Pa; three sons, Ken (Cris) Witmer of Lakeview, Don Witmer of Vestaburg, and Ron (Cindy) Witmer of Blanchard; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, June (David) Chaffin of Riverdale, and Doris (Ray) Ortiz of St Louis; one brother, Robert Witmer of St Louis; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Goldie Witmer; one son Jerry Witmer; and one brother James Witmer.
Funeral services for Ronald will be Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm at St Louis Holiness Church (960 E. Monroe (M-46), St Louis, MI) with visitations at the church on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and on Sunday starting at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Richland Township Cemetery following the service. Those wishing to contribute in Ronald's memory are asked to consider Hospice of Bay City for their exemplary care of Ronald and the St Louis Holiness Church.
