Rosalie June Derevage's Obituary
Rosalie June Derevage, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Born on March 19, 1938, in Big Rapids, MI, she was the cherished youngest daughter of Charles and Delphia (Black) Powell.
Rosalie was a woman of extraordinary warmth and kindness who made everyone she met feel like family. The youngest of five siblings, she cherished her close-knit family and carried their love with her throughout her life. A dedicated worker, she served as a receptionist at Simon Industries and later brought her cheerful spirit to the jewelry department at Walmart.
Rosalie had a deep love for life’s simple joys: animals of all kinds, sewing, poetry, gardening, and tending to her beloved flowers. She was known for her friendliness, always offering a warm greeting and a kind word to anyone who crossed her path. Above all, Rosalie adored her family and embraced her role as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
A devoted fan of Russell Crowe, Rosalie often fondly referred to him as “the love of her life,” a sentiment that brought smiles to those who knew her playful humor.
She is survived by her children, Eddy (Linda) Derevage, Mark Derevage, and Michelle Torry; grandchildren, Brian (Jill), Joseph (Brooke), Joshua (Mandy), Sydney, and Brittany; and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Olivia, David, and Isabella. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Rosalie is reunited in peace with her beloved husband, Edsel Derevage, who passed in 1992; son, Matthew Derevage; brother, Floyd Powell; sister, Jean Welch; and two siblings who passed in childhood.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will welcome friends beginning at 1 p.m. Rosalie will be laid to rest beside her beloved Edsel at Pine Plain Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o Michelle Torry. Her loving spirit will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
