Rosalinde L. Parsons' Obituary
Big Rapids Rosalinde L. Parsons, 73, of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009, at her residence. She was born march 4, 1936, in Frankfurt, Germany, the daughter of Heinz and Liesel Aulbach. In 1955, Linda left Germany to immigrate to Canada, settling in Toronto. While there, she worked for Volkswagen of Canada, the Four Seasons Hotel, and also owned a real estate office. In 1988, Linda moved to Big Rapids when she married Chuck Parsons, and was proud of the fact that she became a U.S. citizen in 2004. She was an active member of the Big Rapids Kiwanis Club, a service organization helping make our community a better place for kids. Linda attended the Salvation Army Church, and helped with their Christmas Appeal by ringing the bells for kettle donations and working with the Angel Tree gifts. She was also part of a German-speaking ladies group known as the Coffee Clutch, and supported the National Wildlife Society and numerous other charities. Her husband Chuck preceded her in death in 2000. Linda is survived by her cousin Ellen Ricker, and her husband Kevin and son Steven, of Niagara Falls, Ontario; and special friends Ginny Reinink and Joanie Alberty of Big Rapids. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 8, at the Salvation Army Church, (formerly Immanuel Lutheran Church), 325 Linden Avenue in Big Rapids, with Father Joe Fix, Major Mike McKee, and Dr. Ewald Pointner officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland View Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids on Wednesday, October 7, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., and at the church after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Memorial contributions for the Big Rapids Salvation Army Corps may be left at the church or in care of the funeral home.
