Roy "Lyn" Lynwood Hanson's Obituary
Paris- Roy (Lyn) Lynwood Hanson, 82, of Paris, passed away on November 17, 2017, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Lyn was born December 19, 1934 in Glen Arbor, the son of Roy and Ruth (LaVance) Hanson. He was raised in Paris and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1954. He married the love of his life, Della (Todd) in 1956 and they later built a home together in Paris to raise their family. Lyn was a hardworking man who began his truck driving career hauling pop and milk. He later retired from Ferris State University as a bus driver in 1995. Lyn's true passion was having his own excavating business and operating heavy equipment. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, great-uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family making many wonderful memories together. He will be dearly missed by Della, his loving wife of over 60 years and his children: Julie (Rick) Modene of Paris, Janice (Ted MacKellar) Miller of Paris, Jodie (Steve) Spencer of Reed City, Jeanie (Craig) Schneidt of Traverse City, Jackie (Bob) Lawson of Brighton, 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brother Bill (Deb) Hanson of Beaverton, many nieces and nephews, and other extended family members. Lyn was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and their husbands, Barbara and John Hansen and Christine and Dennis Johansen and several other family members. Funeral services for Lyn will be held at Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Rev. Robert King at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017. Lyn will be laid to rest with family at Park Hill Cemetery in Paris. His family will greet friends and loved ones from 2-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19th and prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
