Russell Leon Carrick's Obituary
Russell Leon Carrick age 83, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital with family at his side. Russell was born December 03, 1933 in Vestaburg, Michigan the son of Frank and Mildred (Holly) Carrick. Russell was united to the former Barbara Stone on February 14, 1953 in Wheeler, Michigan. He was a successful business owner until his retirement in 1995. Russell enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, hunting, fishing and horses. He was a leader of the 4-H Horse Club the "Russ's Raiders". But most of all he loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; Barbara of Roscommon, MI, daughters; Sheila and husband Brad Panik of Elsie, MI and Sherry and husband Greg Carlson of Rosamond, CA, grandchildren; Michelle Garber of Fort Wayne, IN and Melissa and husband Michael Phillips of CA., siblings; Emma Hinton of Franklin, TN, Ula Keeler of Vestaburg, Ken and wife Marie Carrick of Indian River, MI, Darrell and wife Ginny Carrick of Long Island, NY, Vanessa and husband Tom Savage of Lake City, FL, Mel and wife Carolyn Carrick of Jacksonville, FL, Erie and wife Cookie Carrick of Bellaire, MI and Linda Anderson of Weidman, MI. Russell was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers; Richard and Gordon Carrick.
In keeping with Russell's wishes cremation has taken place and a scattering of his cremated remains will take place Labor Day weekend on the Houghton Lake property with his family.
