Ruth Ella Burke's Obituary
Ruth Ella Burke, born May 10, 1930, to September 28, 2023, age 93 of Canadian Lakes, Michigan. She was born in Ringo Ford, Butler County, Missouri in 1930 to Perry and Anna McGruder. She received a four year scholarship to National College for Christian Workers in Kansas City, Missouri. After a year there, she attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas where she received her Bachelor degree in Education. She married Earl Alvin Burke in 1958. She went on to Michigan State University where she got her Masters degree in Home Economics. She taught at Emerson Junior High in Flint, Michigan and also Cedar Springs High School in Cedar Springs, Michigan. In 1963, Earl and Ruth bought The Pines Swimming Beach on Bostwick Lake in Rockford, Michigan. They bought a small campground in Six Lakes, Michigan in 1968, they named it Pleasure Point. They moved there in 1973, adding more than 160 lots and amenities. In 1987, they sold individual lots in Pleasure Point RV Condominium Resort. Earl and Ruth lived in Six Lakes from 1973 to 2021.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 65 years, Earl, in Royal View Assisted Living Center, Mecosta, Michigan; children Daniel ( Brian Gray ) Burke, of Canadian Lakes, Michigan and Douglas Burke, of Edmore, Michigan; grand children Chad Burke, Amy Bart, Joshua Guild and , and several great grand children; her brother Loy ( Phyllis ) McGruder and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry H McGruder and Anna McGruder, and her brothers Perry W. McGruder and Don McGruder.
Interment will be at Flint Memorial Gardens, Mount Morris, Michigan with a graveside service with the immediate family. A date to be determined.
