Samuel Ross' Obituary
White Cloud - Samuel Ray Ross of Norwich Township, left his beloved family and friends on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, at the age of 54 years. He was born March 11, 1960, in Big Rapids, the son of Robert and Emma (Hering) Ross, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1978. While in high school, he met the love of his life Kelly Ensing, and Sam and Kelly were married on June 21, 1980, at the Woodville Community Church. Sam was the longtime owner and operator of Sam's Disposal in Big Rapids. His favorite activities consisted of any opportunity to put a smile on his wife, children or grandchildren's faces. He loved swimming with the kids in the family pool, going for rides and using anything with wheels to take the kids around the yard. Sam will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kelly; their five children Brooke Day, Sammi (Eric Veltkamp) Ross, Ben (Janette) Ross, Dakota Ross and Kirsten (Daniel Wirt) Ross. He will be cherished by his grandchildren Ayla, Andi, Mason, Maverick, Gunner and Wyatt; his siblings Seldon Ross, Sharlene Ayers, Stacie Brigham and Sherryl Ross; and his father- and mother-in-law Neal and Sandy (Thebo) Ensing. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ross & Emma Scharlow; and his brother, Scott Ross. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, at the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids, with Pastor Foster Brummel officiating. Sam's family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 6, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, and at the church prior to services on Saturday. Donations may be made to the Susan P. Wheatlake Foundation or the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
