Sandra "Sandy" Jean Buskirk's Obituary
Sandra Jean Buskirk, age 87, of Six Lakes, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 8, 1937, in Sheridan, Michigan, Sandra was the daughter of Ray and Ila Collier. She grew up in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan Rural Agricultural School in 1955. On November 8, 1957, she married the love of her life, Earl Buskirk, sharing a beautiful journey together until his passing.Sandra's hard working spirit led her to many roles throughout her life, including being a full-time mom, babysitting, wreath making, strawberry sorting, and working at a bakery. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, creating cherished memories through impromptu picnics, ice cream runs, or competitive games of horse or tunk. Whether piecing together puzzles, planting flowers, or discussing genealogy, Sandra's warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.She will be deeply missed by her children, Lynne (Curtis) Dishong of Lakeview, Kirk (Missy) Buskirk of Kingsley, Nancy (Craig) Jeffery of Grant, and Karen (Dennis) Brasington of Lakeview; her grandchildren, Sarah Dishong-Perez, Kami Plaster, Travis (Amber) Boerma, Amber (Jody) Leitz, Jared Dishong, Rachel (Adam) Trites, Amanda (Bobby) Porter, Angie (Christopher ) Hunter, Lindsey (Tory) Recker, and Kristina (Nathan) Rousseau; along with 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Robert (Verna) Buskirk, Charles Buskirk, Wayne Bogart, and Bruce Johnson; sisters-in-law Claudette Buskirk and Caryl Ann Collier, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Buskirk; her parents, Ray and Ila Collier; brothers, Robert Collier, Raymond Collier, Ken Collier, and Philip Collier; and sister, Ann Heether and a very dear friend, Muriel Gundy. Her family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of Lakeview Terrace Assisted Living for their compassionate care, love, and friendship during Sandra's time there.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview, Michigan, with Pastor John Macomber officiating. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service, from 12-1 p.m. with a luncheon to follow.Though she may be gone, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
