Sending your first child to preschool can be daunting, but Sandy Wales welcomed our children into her warm and caring classroom. I loved the cooperative preschool concept, because parents were part of the team approach to learning. Sandy taught me and our children and nurtured the littlest learners. I loved her caring ways, her creativity and sense of humor. I was honored when she asked if I could step into her shoes after Billy was killed in the plane crash. She taught many Lakeview families her nurturing ways and kindness. I will miss her.
Sandy was such a blessing for so many preschoolers in Lakeview. She will always be remembered for her many years with Lakeview students and she will be missed by her friends from Book Babes . She was a kind, fun, and bright light in so many lives. Amy, she was always so proud of you, too.

The most loving, kind, and gracious women to have ever come into my life. The only person who ever made me feel like more than just an unwanted child. She was the best
Sandy was truly a beautiful person with the gentlest heart one could imagine. She taught all five of my children at Tamarack Nursery School and was a cherished friend for many years. Her artistic gifts flowed into every area of her life. The time of her passing brings to mind the poem that was recited in my childhood Sunday school when birthdays were celebrated. It end: "And may the dear Father prepare the on earth for a beautiful birthday in Heaven." Please give her a hug for me, Lord!
Sandy was my preschool teacher and I have been friends with her daughter, Amy since early childhood. I last saw them both a little over a year ago in Greenville Culver's. We had a nice chat. Sandy always had such a warm and welcoming smile. I remember that smile my whole life and it was part of what made her so good with children. Her smile came from the heart and you could tell. Amy, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a sweet woman. She passed her smile onto you and that is a beautiful thing. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
