He was born October 18, 1927 in Morley, the son of Lewis and Murna (McKeun) Griffin. Sardis attended the Morley High School before dropping out (a common act of Patriotism in those days) to join the U.S. Marines during WWII. He proudly served overseas in both Japan and China during his tour of duty. He later received his Diploma from Big Rapids High School in 1978. Sardis worked on the High Lines many years until his employment started at Ferris State University where he was a Heavy Equipment Operator until his retirement in 1990. Sardis is survived by one brother Gerald (Marie) Griffin. He was also the brother of now deceased, Addison (Janet) Griffin, and Lois (Ward) Neal. He was an active member of the 3rd Avenue Methodist Church until his recent illness that kept him from attending. He had many good friends from his former home located in Jennings Trailer Park, prior to moving to "The Brook" where he made many new friends and was very well cared for this last year of his life. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Kim Delong officiating.
