Shirley Bacon's Obituary
Shirley Bacon entered into eternal rest November 21, 2021 in Lakeview, Michigan. A funeral service will take place Saturday, November 27 at Janowicz Family Funeral Home at 2pm. There will be a one hour visitation before the service.
Everyone Shirley met became special to her. She loved everyone’s children, especially her own. On November 1, 1960, she married the love of her life, James Bacon. The two of them loved traveling together. Oftentimes they would load up in the car and head to an unknown destination, seeking a new adventure! Together, James and Shirley grew their family to include six children. Shirley hit the mark when it came to motherhood. When her children expressed interest in 4-H, she dove in head first to support them. She was an active member at Christian Life Ministries in Big Rapids. She enjoyed crosswords, arts and crafts, and even dabbled in woodworking. Shirley was known for her unique personality and sass, but she will be remembered most of all for being a compassionate giver and great conversationalist.
The family of Shirley Bacon would like to extend a warm, heartfelt thank you to the staff at Kelsey Hospital for taking impeccable care of their mom.
Her selfless and devoted nature will be deeply missed by her children; William (Jackie) Bacon, Lawrence Bacon, Laura Gable, Harriet (Greg) Wright, Jason Bacon, Hazel (Steve) Tuck; 17+ grandchildren; and 27+ great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Lilly. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, James Bacon; parents, Leonard and Violet (Smith) Sherwood; brothers, Robert Sherwood, Lawrence Sherwood; sister, Eleanor Linder. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family.
