Shirley Ann Burris' Obituary
Lakeview-Shirley Ann Burris, age 73, of Six Lakes passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, due to medical complications. She was born on March 21, 1947 in St. Louis, MO to the late Doris Ruth (Medley) and John Nickelson. She was a cashier for years and retired in 2005. She spent most of her retirement years playing bingo, gambling (at different casinos), going to concerts, crocheting blankets and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is also preceded in death by her spouse of 40 years, Richard D. Miller Sr.; her stepson, Richard Miller Jr.; sisters-in-law, Joyce and Sissy Miller; several brothers-in-law; a great-grandchild; and her beloved pet, Peaches.
Survivors include, her sister, Carol (Jim) Novak of Comstock Park; brother, Ted (Marianne) Nickelson of Grand Rapids; life long best friend, Carolyn Harrington of Coopersville; son, Dwayne (Pam) Nickelson of Portland; daughters, Dawn (Richard) Shillinger of Grand Rapids, Victoria (Robert) Hardy of Six Lakes, Melissa (Richard Perry) Burris of Alpharetta, GA; step children, Ronna (Keith) Wiseman of Acworth, GA, Bruce Whitmore of Sturgis, Ricky Miller of Grand Rapids, Timothy Miller of Powder Springs, GA, Karen (Kevin) Snyder of Portage; grandchildren, Ashley (Danny) VanDyken of Traverse City, Amber (Thomas) Beach of Blanchard, Jordan (Krystina) Shillinger of Grandville, Felicia (Andrew) Braman of Blanchard, Thomas (Cortney) Nickelson of Portland; several step grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
A private gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
