Shirley Ann Dennis' Obituary
Stanwood - Shirley Ann Dennis, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at home with her family by her side. She was born October 26, 1930 in Paris, Michigan, the daughter of Henry and Beulah (Montague) Romine. She graduated from Big Rapids High School June 2, 1949 and married the love of her life, Roy Dennis, on June 4, 1949. Shirley and Roy made their home in Goodwell Township, raising four children. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Shirley enjoyed many years of gardening, bird watching, fishing, and being outdoors. She is survived by her husband; children, Mike (Lori) Dennis of Fremont, Tom (Ellen) Dennis of Okemah, OK, Larry (Joan) Dennis of Aiken, SC, and Patti (Shawn) Downey of Canadian Lakes; nine grandchildren, Dustin Dennis, Casey Downey, Alex Dennis, Chris Dennis, Dan Dennis, Andy Dennis, Kristen Buff, Shannon Klabunde, and Brad Hoffman; and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Barbara Waldron of Paris; brother, Robert Romine of Paris; sister-in-law Helen Dennis of Big Rapids; plus special friend of the family, Gwen Dennis. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Leona. Funeral services for Shirley will be at 1:00 pm Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Foster Brummel officiating. Interment will be at the Goodwell Township Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue Coalition of Mecosta County.
