Shirley M. Johnston's Obituary
Shirley M. Johnston, age 93, of Vestaburg passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side on Saturday, January 27, 2024. She was born in Flint on July 10, 1930. Shirley married Joy "Bud" Johnston on March 19, 1949, and together they raised 5 loving children. She was employed for many years at Lobdell Emery in Alma. Shirley loved to travel, go to any casino, camp with family, go to horse shows with Bud, and go to garage or auction sales. She also enjoyed "Card Night". Shirley is survived by her daughter, Nicki Stratton (Pat Miller); son, Doug Johnston; daughter, Vonnie (Calvin) Callison; daughter, Rebecca Johnston (Lisa Santangelo); 8 grandchildren, Cassie (Steve) Davis, Linette Bellingar, Troy (Kathy) Mortensen, Matt Mortensen, Chad (Angie) Mortensen, Ben Johnston, Jenna (Lance) Kluwe, Alyssa (Ryan) Stafford; 13 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister Brenda Kelly; brother, Terry Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; son, Marshall; son-in-law, David Stratton; daughter-in-law, Dawn Johnston; grandson, Darren Bellingar; brothers, Gordon and Brad Smith and her parents Harold and Freda Smith. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Ferris Church of Christ in Ferris Township, with Pastor Dan Palmer officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the Church. A luncheon will follow the service.
