Shirley Ruth Moyer's Obituary
Lakeview-Shirley Ruth (Sorrell) Moyer, age 94, formerly of Lakeview passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at her home in Morley. She was born in Middleton on December 29, 1926, the daughter of Ernest and Ethel (Bovee) Sorrell. Shirley was raised in Middleton where she attended a one room schoolhouse until 8th grade before graduating from Carson City High School in 1945. She married the love of her life, James Moyer on January 16, 1954, and they spent nearly 50 years together raising their family before his passing in 2002. Shirley was employed as a bus driver for Lakeview Community Schools for over 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, and doing word search. Shirley was not one to sit still. She kept herself constantly busy working in the yard, cooking and being a mom to not only her 6 children, but their friends and the many, many kids that rode on her bus.
Shirley will be missed and is survived by her children, Tim Moyer of Lakeview, Robin Gould of Morley, David (Mary) Moyer of Lakeview; grandchildren, Chris (Katie) Moyer, Aaron Moyer, Eric (Morgan) Gould, Heather (Ray) Hubbard, Andrea Lake, Jonathan (Tabitha) Baylor, Jeff (Michelle) Baylor, Kristen Jeffrey, Brandi Moyer; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Francis, Barbara, Jean; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; 3 sons, Rick, Jeff, and William "Billy", parents, Ernest and Ethel; siblings, Don, Robert, Irvin, Melvin, Gordon, Lyle, Ralph, Hattie and Anna.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Langston Bible Church, with Pastor John Franks officiating.
