Shirley Jean Parks' Obituary
Shirley Jean Parks, age 95, of Alma, Michigan passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022. Shirley was born in Ashley, Michigan on May 28, 1927, the daughter of Lloyd O. Whipple and Daisy Mae (LaBree) Whipple. She graduated from Carson City High School with the class of 1945. She continued her education and graduated from Lansing Business University.On February 6, 1949, Shirley married the love of her life, Jerry Parks at the Carson City Methodist Church. Together they had two children. She enjoyed cooking, golfing, bowling, and quilting. She was also a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore and actively involved with the General Federation of Women's Club.Shirley will be missed by her children Jerilyn Farrell and Tom (Shelley) Parks; grandchildren Joe Farrell, Megan (Adam) Ryder, T.J. (Frank) Parks, Matt (Jenny) Parks; great grandchildren Tyler Farrell, Rae Parks, Havana Patti-Parks, Liliana Patti-Parks; several nieces and nephews.Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents Lloyd and Daisy Whipple; two brothers, Duane Whipple, and Lloyd Whipple JR.; and nephews, Bill Whipple, Bob Whipple, and Allen Whipple.The family would like to thank special neighbors Duane and Terri Gilbert for their support over the years. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Carson City Cemetery.
