Shirley Mae Wilson's Obituary
Shirley Mae (Everts) Wilson, age 86, of Six Lakes (formerly of Lansing) who never backed away from a good fight, surrendered and passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020. Shirley was born May 10, 1934 and lived in the Lansing area most of her life. Shirley graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in June 1952. She married her husband, Gail H. Wilson, in the same month at The Potters Park Zoo in front of the monkeys. At least that is what their kids always thought. In reality they married at The Potters Park Parsonage in Lansing. Gail preceded her in death January 9, 1994 after almost 42 years of marriage. Shirley was an at home mom to her 3 sons, Larry Wilson (Tracy Keenan Henry) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Gary Wilson of Grand Rapids and Rick (Pam) Wilson. Rick preceded her in death March 19, 2017 in Lansing.
In addition to being survived by those mentioned, Shirley is also survived by her brothers, Gary Everts, Arthur "Buzz" Everts Jr and sister in law Sharon Everts-Lantz.
Shirley loved to crochet, cooking for a group, pontoon rides, laughing around the firepit and telling people what they should do.
Shirley will be missed by her sons, her 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren all those who chose to call her "Aunt Shirley" and those who were mandated by law to address her that way.
In addition to those already mentioned, Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ruby (Card) Everts Sr, her sister Marguerite Jones, sister in law Mary Everts, all of Gail's sisters and brother, niece Karen (Suez) Jones, nephew by marriage Thomas Nees and her great grandson Jordan Wilson.
A brief interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Six Lakes on August 1, 2020 at 1pm followed by a celebration potluck of food, swimming, music, games and most importantly, memories at The Six Lakes Pavilion on First Lake. Please choose casual attire for comfort and fun.
