Stanley Raymond Cross' Obituary
Age 91, of Lansing, slipped peacefully through the gates of heaven on March 8, 2014. He was born February 24, 1923 to Samuel and Safroria (Toni) Scott-Sleet Cross, and grew up in Weidman, MI. After Stanley moved to Lansing to work for Oldsmobile, he met and married Geraldine Rice Maki of Remus, MI. Stanley was a loving husband, a dedicated father and a doting grandfather who was kind and committed to his family. He loved children, fishing, eating, and the Detroit Tigers.
Stanley leaves behind three sons: Raymond E. Maki (Edna) of Mesa, AZ, George R. Maki (Malekka) and Chuck Olsen Cross of Lansing. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Stanley was preceded in death by his beloved wife Geri, sister Beatrice Cross Brown, daughters Joyce Merchant and Pat Maki, grandson Mike Gibson, and granddaughter Samantha Bahl. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Hansen-Janowicz funeral home at 469 West Wheatland in Remus, MI (989) 967-3464. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Friendship Baptist Church at 2912 Pleasant Grove Road, Lansing, MI 48910 (517) 394-6369.
