Stanley Maneke, age 80 of Rodney, MI passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. A graveside service will be held October 22, 2016 at the Martiny Twp. Cemetery at 11:00 AM, followed by a celebration of life dinner at the Martiny Twp. Hall.
Stanley was born April 8, 1936, the son of Theodore and Mildred (Granger) Maneke. After high school, Stanley joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War.
Stanley was an avid gardener known to grow the most magnificent raspberries. But even though he grew his own fruits and vegetables, he would eat out almost every night of the week so he didn't have to do dishes. Stanley was also a very social man, he loved people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. It is said that he was most passionate about his vehicles. He would drive a new one for only a couple of years before trading it in for something newer, and always made sure they were immaculate.
Stanley will be greatly missed by his son, Stan "Eddie" (Rhonda) Maneke; daughter, Monica Prill; sisters, Jane Mitchell and Carolyn Latham; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Maneke; ten grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Forest Maneke, Harley Maneke, Walter Maneke, and Frankie Maneke, and son-in-law, Chuck Prill.
