Stephanie Kay LeGree's Obituary
Big Rapids- Stephanie Kay LeGree, 73, of Big Rapids, went home on Thursday, December 8, 2016, from St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was born December 21, 1942, in Flint, the daughter of Arlington and Violet (Wedler) Currie. Stephanie graduated from Utley High School, and earned her L.P.N. degree. On December 26, 1964, she married Lawrence F. LeGree, and they moved to Big Rapids in 1970, where she had lived since. For over 30 years, Stephanie was a nurse in the Big Rapids area, working for the majority of this time at OB-GYN of Big Rapids. She was a longtime member of Trinity Fellowship Evangelical Free Church in Big Rapids, and was instrumental in helping to establish the Hope House Free Medical Clinic. Stephanie enjoyed painting, needlepoint, quilting, and travelling, and was an avid reader. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Larry; five children, Laurie (Bill) Bolthouse of Denver, CO, Lawrence (Marina) LeGree, Jr. of Norfolk, VA, Leslie (Paul) Perrine of Westland, Loren (Melissa) LeGree of Colorado Springs, CO, LeeAnn LeGree of Big Rapids, and Tanise Dixon of Denver, Co; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Jeff Currie of Scottsdale, AZ, and Vincent (Diane) Currie of Atlanta, GA, and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Stephanie's life will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2016 at Trinity Fellowship Church in Big Rapids, with Pastor Gary deBock officiating. Those attending are requested to wear something red in her memory. Interment will be at the Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. Her family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, and after 10:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to sponsor a child through World Vision (www.wvi.org), with envelopes available at the funeral home.
