Steven Roy Chapin's Obituary
Lakeview-Steven Roy Chapin, age 68, of Lakeview passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, June 9, 2022. He was born on July 2, 1953, the son of Roy and Carol (Ebbitt) Chapin. Steve was raised in Lakeview where he attended Lakeview Community Schools, graduating with the Class of 1971. During his school years, he was active in band, football and the Boy Scouts, which led to a trip to the Boy Scout Jamboree in Idaho and later becoming the Scout Master of troop 95 in Lakeview for several years. Steve was employed by Kluge's Market in Lakeview and continued with Jorgensen's Market for a total of 42 years. He also assisted with the lawn care and maintenance of Cato Township Cemetery for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, working in his yard, and watching old Westerns and any sport on TV.
Steve will forever be missed and is survived by his siblings, Marcy (Tim) Ferguson of N. Ft. Myers, FL, Kevin (Donna) Chapin of Sebring, FL, Danette (Dan) Mondrella of Stanwood, Michelle (John) Schwartz of Lakeview; 14 nieces and nephews, Brandon (Amy) Bennett, Bradey (May) Bennett, Brooke (Brian) Aten, Brent (Brittany) Ferguson, Brock (Brittany) Ferguson, Danielle (Rory) Shea, Nicolle York, Michael (Megan) York, Stephanie York, Angela (Joe Bugeja) York, Myriah (Katsuya Fujita) Schwartz, Kolter (Lauren Coffman) Schwartz, McKenzie Schwartz, Denise (Traci) Whitaker; 9 great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and his faithful companion, Frankenstein the dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Scott Guy officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Cato Township Cemetery.
