Susan Cornelia Darling's Obituary
Six Lakes - Susan Cornelia Darling, age 61, of Six Lakes, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's, on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Lakeview Terrace with her family by her side. Susan was born in Lakeview on November 23, 1957 the daughter of Lyle and Beulah (May) Delamater. She was raised in Six Lakes and graduated from Montabella High School Class of 1975. It was in high school where she met and eventually married her high school sweetheart, Dave Darling. They were married on August 14, 1976 in Lakeview at the Free Methodist Church. Susan continued her education at Michigan State and then finished her degree at Montcalm Community College. Susan enjoyed working for Montabella Public Schools as a Para-Professional for 23 years. She loved working and caring for children, gardening, flowers, camping, reading, and she was well known for her humor and she always spoke the truth, even if it was unpopular. Susan was very social; strangers were not strangers very long. Susan was a very active member of New Beginnings Church in Six Lakes.
Susan is survived in death by her husband of 42 years Dave Darling of Six Lakes; children Luke (Ora) Darling of Six Lakes, Lindsay (Edward) Terlaan of Six Lakes, Cody (Serena) Darling of Dubuque, Iowa, and Sara (John) Fredricks of Blanchard; grandchildren Isabell, Caroline, Isla, and Macy; siblings Gilbert (Kaye) Delamater of Six Lakes, Phillip (Melda) of Beaumont, TX, Janet Delamater of Greenville, and Arnold (Sheryl) Delamater of Greenville, Il; several nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Lyle and Beulah Delamater.
Funeral services for Susan will be Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at New Beginnings Church in Six Lakes with Pastor Tim Eldred officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 1:00 - 3:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the church. Following the service, all are invited to a luncheon at the church. Interment will be private. Those wishing to contribute in Susan's memory are asked to consider American Alzheimer's Association.
