Susan Elizabeth Larson's Obituary
A loving friend, sister and aunt, Susan passed away January 24, 2019, in Lakeview,
Michigan in hospice care from pancreatic cancer. She was born September 23, 1963, in
Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and grew up in Harrison, Michigan; last residing in Coldwater, Michigan. An active outdoors woman, Susan enjoyed hiking, kayaking and bike trips with the Wheels Over Michigan Bike A Thon (Wombat) cycling group for Haiti medical mission, loved teaching children at nature camps and in elementary schools, loved being with family in the Upper Peninsula and with her nephew's family in Lakeview, as well as spending time with her friends in Jackson and Coldwater. A talented seamstress, Susan made many treasured handmade items for family and friends. She also enjoyed working with and watching fireworks with her longtime friend, Ed Bonney, and his family. She was active with many friends in the First Congregational Church, Jackson, MI community, especially the dear friendship of Barbara Palmer throughout her entire cancer treatment.
Susan is survived by her brother William and wife Robin of Rock, Michigan, nephews
Matthew and his wife Nikki and their children Emmaleigh and Dakota of Rock, Michigan,
Robert and wife Katie (Susan's caregivers) and their sons Easton and Eli of Lakeview, Michigan, niece, Sara Larson of Ishpeming, Michigan, brother-in-law, Wil Hemker of Akron, Ohio and many friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and June Larson, her sister, Carol (Larson) Hemker and her nephew, Ryan Larson.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held on February 9, 2019, at the First Congregational Church, 120 N. Jackson St, Jackson, Michigan at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. A luncheon will follow the service in the lower hall of the church.
There will be a remembrance in Harrison, Michigan in the Spring (date and location to be determined) for those that can't attend the February 9th service.
Memorial donations in Susan's name may be made to Larson Elementary School (in
Harrison, MI), Women's Outdoor Club (Dahlem Center), First Congregational Church UCC both of Jackson, MI or Wombat Cycling for Haiti Medical Mission http://www. wombatride. org/.
