Susan Gayle Martin's Obituary
Big Rapids - Susan Gayle Martin, 67, of Big Rapids, passed away at her home Wednesday, January 28, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. She was born August 16, 1947, in Big Rapids, the daughter of Gale and Gladys (Cady) Martin. Sue graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1965 and began her working career at The Pioneer as a typesetter. From there she worked at Ferris until she retired in 2007. Sue enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, and also charity knitting which she did through The United Church of Big Rapids. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She is survived by five grandchildren, Bronwyn, Brice, Aidan, Eleri, and Evan Johansen of Big Rapids, one sister, Sandra (Donald) Morris of Big Rapids, nieces and nephews, Gale, Stacey, Michael, Jeff, and Wendy, plus many cousins. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Melissa Johansen, and one brother, Dean Martin. A memorial service for Sue will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2015, at The United Church of Big Rapids with Pastor Jon Fleming officiating. Her family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The United Church of Big Rapids.
