Susan Lynn Wood's Obituary
Lakeview-Susan Lynn (Helms) Wood, age 69, of Trufant passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital. She was born in Sheridan on May 23, 1951 to Ernest and Bertha (Tate) Helms. Susan was raised in the Trufant area where she attended Lakeview Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1969. She continued her education at Ferris State University earning her Bachelor's Degree in 1975. Susan married the love of her life, Dallas Wood on August 12, 1970 at Settlement Lutheran Church in Gowen. She was employed as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by Spectrum Health United and Kelsey for over 19 years, working her way up to Laboratory Director before her retirement in 2011. Susan loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, baking, hunting and fishing. She was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the Settlement Lutheran Church.
Susan is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Dallas Wood of Trufant; children, Ryan (Jennifer) Wood of Williamston, Daniel Wood of Trufant, Rachelle Wood of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Ryven, Riley and Evelyn; brothers, Richard Helms of Trufant, Daniel (Karen) Helms of Channing, MI; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Bertha Helms.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview, with Pastor Betsy Kamphuis officiating, interment following at Riverside Cemetery in Langston. The family will greet friends at Brigham Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 21 from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 6:00-8:00 PM, also from 12:00 PM until time of service on Thursday.
