Tanya Kay Minzghor's Obituary
On August 13, 2023, Tanya Kay Minzghor passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren, succumbing to a year long battle with cancer.
Tanya was born on the 11th of March, 1944 to Stephen and Lottie (Walewski) Podayko in Albion, MI. It was there that she and her siblings were raised and where she graduated High School. Tanya married her high school sweetheart, Gary Thomas Rampy, at the age 20. Gary went on to become a Michigan State Trooper and their family grew to include a son, David, and daughter, Denise. Sadly, Gary was killed in the line of duty on the last day of 1971 leaving Tanya a widow with two small children.
Tanya was carried by her extended Michigan State Police family, where she met and married William Grant Minzghor, also a MSP trooper, in 1976, acquiring three more children, Jeff, Teresa and Michele. They quickly became her own as she had enough love to give to everyone.
Tanya poured her energy into her career as a dental assistant at Chikaming Dental Center in Sawyer, MI, where she established life-long friends and memories.
Tanya and William retired to Canadian Lakes in 2003. In 2017 Tanya became a widow a second time after the passing of William. She found comfort and happiness in being in attendance in every milestone in her grandchildren's lives. Tanya spent her quiet time baking a special treat, making scrapbooks for her family and reading.
She lived a well-intentioned life which was filled with much adversity and she faced it with hope, love, and laughter. She was a positive force with an energy and smile that could lighten a room.
She was a special woman. She will be deeply missed.
Left to carry on her memory are her children: David (Trudy) Rampy, Denise (Jeff) Poosch, Jeff (Peggy) Minzghor, Michele (Jason) VanderBerg; Grandchildren: Mackenzie and David Rampy, Lauren and Jenna Poosch, Matthew Minzghor , Kaylee Gratsch, Nicholas Minzghor, Taylor, Caleb, Caden, and Ryleigh VanderBerg; Great-Grandchildren: Isla, Levi, William, Sawyer, and Tyler; Sister Nanette (David) DeVries.
Preceding Tanya in death are her husbands, Gary and William; Beloved Daughter, Teresa Minzghor; Brother Larry Podayko.
A memorial service will take place on August 19, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Janowicz Family Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Piatt officiating. Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service. Donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
