Thomas Leroy Buckner's Obituary
Thomas Leroy Buckner, 79, of Blanchard, Michigan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 8, 2026.
Thomas was born in Frankfort, Michigan, to Arvil John Buckner and Elsie Arlene Myers. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea. Following his military service, he remained deeply involved in his community as a shooting sports instructor with 4-H in Montcalm County, where he shared his knowledge and love of the sport with many.
Thomas had a true gift for making people smile. He loved spending time at the Millpond, watching the swans, enjoying the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. Above all, he adored his grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his loving mother, Elsie Arlene Peterson; his son, Thomas (Larissa) Buckner; his daughters, Melissa (Steve) Johnson and Moriah (Robert) Stroh; his brothers, David (Diane) Buckner and Randy Buckner; his sisters, Bonnie Buckner and Candy (Jack) Burr; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Arvil John Buckner; his brothers, Arvil (RJ) Buckner and Mike Buckner; and his nephew, Joseph Buckner.
Private services will be held on Wednesday, February 11. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made directly to the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Janowicz Family Funeral Home of Remus, Michigan.
