Obituary
Six Lakes - Thomas William Evans, age 92, of Six Lakes, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at United Memorial Hospital in Greenville, MI. Thomas was born September 16, 1926 in Vanceburg, Kentucky, the son of Thomas William and Vicey Mae (Kegley) Evans.
He was raised in both Vanceburg and Williamsburg, Kentucky and in Portsmouth, Ohio. He attended Vanceburg Country School. Thomas was employed over 30 years by General Motors Pontiac Division as a Job Setter, Relief Man, and Lineman until his retirement on January 1, 1979.
Thomas married Anna Lou (Sovey) Evans on July 30, 1949 in Maysville, KY. They spent 55 years together before she passed away on December 9, 2004. Thomas always dreamed of a large and loving family, and together, they accomplished his dream. Thomas and Anna raised nine wonderful children, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Thomas enjoyed hunting, coon dogs and coon dog hunting, working on cars, riding horses, and dancing. Thomas was a true customer of drinking Black Label. He was a member of Local Union 653 UAW.
Thomas is survived by his children Gloria Evans of Lake Orien, MI, Betty (John) Setser, Sharon (Mike) Lipka, Cynthia "Cindy" (Steve) Little, and Jeff Evans, all of Fostoria, MI, John (Tracy) Evans of Six Lakes, and Rob (Kelly) Evans of Muskegon; 23 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren; one sister Marie Stacey of Ohio; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Anna Evans; parents Thomas and Vicey Evans; three sons William "Bill", Raymond, and Charles "Chuck" Evans; and four siblings Helen Moore, Irene Kegley, Anna Braun, and Raymond Evans.
Funeral Services for Thomas will be on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Brigham Chapel in Six Lakes, MI with Pastor Scott Manning officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Chapel. A luncheon will follow the service at the Six Lakes VFW Post.
