Thomas Gerard Frebes' Obituary
Thomas Gerard Frebes, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on September 17, 1959, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Louis Carl and Mary Ann (O’Brien) Frebes. Thomas was the fourth of nine children. Thomas spent his early years in Trenton, Michigan, before moving to Remus, Michigan, where he built a life rooted in hard work, faith, and service to others. His career spanned various roles, and he eventually retired from Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator and in grounds maintenance. Thomas had a passion for antiquing and finding unique treasures, often visiting garage sales in search of his next great find. He loved working on project cars and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. His generous spirit and dedication to others extended into his faith. He was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus and the Knights of Columbus, where he found joy in serving his community. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Samantha Frebes, Ginger Fate, James Frebes, and Jack Frebes; and his siblings, Cathy Smith, Mary Ellen Anderson, Joseph Frebes, Jerry Frebes, Daniel Frebes, James Frebes, John Frebes, and Christina Nickerson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus, Michigan, with Father Tom Boufford officiating. Those desiring may direct memorial donations them to St. Michael School Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Thomas will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his kind and giving nature, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. His love for his family, friends, and community will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
