Thomas H. Taylor's Obituary
Big Rapids- Thomas H. "Tom" Taylor, 74, of Big Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 following a very brief illness. He was born on December 7, 1939 in Manistee, the son of Irving and Wilma (Kienitz) Taylor. Tom graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years from 1958 through 1962. Tom worked at Ferris State University for 36 years, retiring in 2000. He was a long time FSU hockey fan and antique car enthusiast. Tom is survived by Margaret (Cusack), his wife of 46 years; one daughter, Tracee (and very special son-in-law Ray) Blair; two grandchildren,Elliot and Blake Blair; three brothers,twin brother, Scott (Janet), Jon (Marilyn), and Richard (Joyce) Taylor. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Ellen and Pat McKercher and Kathy and Dan Cummiskey, plus several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Tom will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 9, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mecosta-Osceola United Way (315 Ives, Big Rapids, MI) or St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids.
