Thomas Lee Walker's Obituary
Edmore-Thomas Lee Walker, age 61, of Blanchard passed away unexpectedly at MidMichigan Medical Center Gratiot on Thursday, January 16, 2020. Tom was born in Marion, Indiana on November 23, 1958, the son of Arthur and Elizabeth (Human) Walker. He was raised in the Greensburg, Indiana area and graduated from high school there with the class of 1977. He joined the United States Navy and served his country honorably for 21 years before his retirement in 1998. During that time, he was sent to numerous duty stations, both in the US and abroad, receiving many ribbons, awards and medals. He served aboard the USS San Diego, USS Saipan and was on board the USS Guadalcanal when it was decommissioned. Tom married Donna June Hersha on November 2, 1985 in Traverse City, MI. He joined Donna and the children in Blanchard after leaving the Navy. Tom worked a few jobs in the area before the need to "cruise" took over and he began driving truck long haul for Expediters Services. After his 2nd retirement he enjoyed building furniture, wishing wells, vases, animals and anything from wood that hit his fancy. Tom enjoyed helping family, friends and neighbors with computer and mechanical issues or any thing they needed. He was a life time member of the Amvets Post 588 and the VFW Post 2292 of Edmore.
Tom is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna Walker; his children, Kimberly Weissert of Sheridan, Davin Walker of Blanchard, Heather (Caleb) Hardy of Richland Center, WI, Tiffany (Spencer) Johnson of Edmore, Jamie (Daryl) Dennis of Lafayette, IN; 7 grandchildren; mother, Elizabeth Walker; sisters, Patricia Whitacre, JoEllen (Dan) Fledderman, Juanita (Steve) Beetz all of Greensburg, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Walker.
Thomas will be cremated and his ashes scattered at sea, so that he will forever cruise the seven seas.
Military Services for Tom will be at 5:00 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Brigham Funeral Chapel, Edmore. The family will greet friends from 3:00 PM until time of service at the chapel. There will be a luncheon at 6:00 PM at the VFW Hall in Edmore.
