TImothy Scott Ransom's Obituary
Timothy Scott Ransom departed this world on the First of June, 2023, at the age of 54. Timothy was the second born of four children to Willard Boyd and Patricia Lou (Hardenburgh) Ransom in Flint, MI. Not following a traditional development model, Tim hit the ground running and never stopped finding ways of being busy. His ability to escape from cribs, playpens and occasionally his garments at an early age kept his parents on their toes.
Timothy had an incredible sense of humor with friends and acquaintances drawn to his jovial ways. He had a keen ability to find common ground with people and they enjoyed his company. At the same time, he had an inner core of mental toughness that came through in his work ethic and his ability to tolerate pain allowed him to successfully shield others from the physical pain he dealt with as he aged.
One of Timothy’s great loves was the dome of the sky. He was an avid star gazer and knew a great deal of celestial patterns. It was well known that he would get up at all hours of the night to see certain stars, meteor showers, or satellites crossing the sky. He equally enjoyed listening to sports games while he was working or sitting down to watch a game when he had time, particularly when the Lions or the University of Michigan was on.
Perhaps he always knew he liked to serve others when he decided to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army in May 1988 until he was medically discharged in 1990 following a very severe injury incurred while serving as an Armor Crewman on the Army’s M1 Abrams main battle tank. Despite the physical pain he would endure the rest of his life, Tim always did his best to take care of his family of four children and then his parents. For his parents, he would help them maintain their home with the little things like mowing lawn and removing the snow from the driveway and decks.
Left to mourn Timothy are his parents, Willard and Patricia Ransom; his children: Timothy Boyd Scott Ransom, Krista Rae Ransom, Thomas Michael Ransom, and Jessica Opal Ransom; his Siblings, William Lee, Colonel Thomas Boyd (Juana) Ransom, and Laura Jeanne Wilson (Ransom); and three Grandchildren, Luna, Diego, and Lillian.
