CANANDIAN LAKES - Troy Harold Crossnoe, 84, of Canadian Lakes, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Mission Point in Big Rapids after 33 years of battling Parkinson's Disease.
Troy was born on August 14, 1936, in Flint, the son of Troy Talmadge and Nina Mae (Barkdale) Crossnoe, and was raised in Genesee County. In 1955, Troy graduated from Mandeville High School, and then attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. Troy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Boot Camp in 1960; he was appointed a Lance Corporal in the reserve of the United States Marine Corps.
For 17 years, Troy worked for American Greeting Card before owning and operating Flint Office Supply. On December 12, 1986, Troy married Natalie (Martz-Erickson), and Troy and Natalie moved north from Grand Blanc to Canadian Lakes in the winter of 1997.
Troy was a great golfer and he enjoyed playing with his friends, sons-in-law, family members, and his wife Natalie. Troy worked on The Royal Golf Course as a ranger, and his other hobbies were woodworking and fishing. He made many pieces of furniture, and he taught all eight of his grandchildren how to fish, until his Parkinson's Disease made it too difficult for him to continue.
Troy was raised as Baptist but joined the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod on August 27, 1989 at Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc, MI. Over the years Troy was an usher, elder, and joined in Bible study groups and served on various committees. His current home church is St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids.
Troy leaves his loving wife of 34 years Natalie; his stepchildren Clayton (Lisa) Erickson, Abbie (Pete) Gebhart, Jennifer (Michael) Tews, and Jason (Julie) Erickson; and his grandchildren whom he loved, Brooke, Nicole, Brian, Natalie, Megan (fiancée Ryne), Nolan, Emma, and Cailey.
Troy was proceeded in death by his first wife Margaret, his parents, his brothers Marvin and Robert, and an infant granddaughter Megan Erickson.
