Vena Mae (Drier) Fitzner's Obituary
Vena Mae (Drier) Fitzner, age 85, of Lakeview, passed away July 1, 2015 at Twin Oaks Retirement Home in Gowan. She was born December 13, 1929, the daughter of Fred and Edna Drier and was raised in Wakefield along with eight brothers and sisters. She later moved to the Detroit area to work as a professional secretary. In 1949, she married Donald J. Fitzner and spent the next sixty one years with him on the Fitzner farm until his passing. She was a stay at home mom and also a longtime secretary for the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Hough-Pontius VFW Posts Ladies auxiliary.
Vena Mae is survived by sons Paul (Deb) Fitzner and Jeff (Mary) Fitzner; sister Betty Rinehart;brother Ross (Bev) Fitzner; sister-in-law Helena Kaczynski; grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special family friend Barb Davis.
Vena Mae was preceded in death by her husband Don Fitzner; daughter Jeanne Fitzner; infant sons Bruce Lee and Brad Alan; sisters Evelyn Drier and Ruth Johnson; brothers Elmer, Ben, Charlie, and Ralph Drier; and infant brother Joseph Drier.
Graveside services for Vena Mae will be held at Riverside (Pine Twp) Cemetery in Langston on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Steven Voelker officiating. A luncheon will take place at the Pine Township Hall following the graveside service. Memorial Contributions in Vena Mae's name may be made to Hough-Pontius VFW Post # 3701Ladies Auxiliary or the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakeview, MI.
