Verna Renata Wied's Obituary
Stanwood - Verna R. Wied, 102, of Stanwood, passed away, Friday, July 9, 2021, at Altercare of Big Rapids.
She was born July 20, 1918, in Potter, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Theodora (Fiehler) Mueller.
Verna used her God-given talents in serving as secretary to the president at Concordia University where she met her husband, Al. Besides enjoying her role as a homemaker, she served as secretary to the Lutheran High school Ass'n and Christus Victor Lutheran Church.
In retirement she stitched World Relief quilts, designed and sent cards to ill and shut-ins, and sat with home-bound people to give caregivers free time. She often expressed her thanks to God for using her in service to others.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband Al in 2011 and grandson Aaron. She is survived by her two sons Max and Marshall Wied, and grandson Tyler Jarrett Wied.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2021, at Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church, with Rev. William Hooper officiating. Verna will be laid to rest next to Al at Chapel of the Lakes where she was a charter member. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to God's Helping Hands or Chapel of the Lake Lutheran Church. Care and arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
