Vernon Johnson's Obituary
ernon Johnson, age 86, died Wednesday , August 30, 2017 at Lakeview Terrace in Lakeview , MI. He was born December 1, 1930, the son of John Christopher Johnson and Lena Belle (Batten) Johnson. Vernon was raised in the Edmore area where he graduated from Edmore High School. Vernon married Beverley Jane Johnson on August 7, 1949 in Edmore. He had been employed by General Motors, as a line worker, shop worker for General Electric, and was a foreman for Hitachi. He enjoyed traveling , camping, wood working, hobby farming, mowing grass and driving his tractor. Vernon was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
Vernon is survived by 3 children Wendy Lumbert of Detroit, David Johnson(Dawn) of Edmore, and Doug Johnson ( Ginger ) of Warsaw IN ; 6 grandchildren, Channa Lumbert-Jeltema, Amy Lumbert, Chris Johnson, Timothy Johnson, Amberley Johnson, Olivia Johnson; 2 great grandchildren, Marcus Lumbert and Zachary Jeltema; One sister Norma (John) Stickler of Bowling Green Ohio; nieces; nephews, and friends.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents John Christopher and Lena Belle Johnson; Wife Beverley Jane Johnson on February 18, 2012; One child Dale Johnson on September 12, 2001; and one grandchild Andrew Johnson on March 2, 2001.
Funeral services for Vernon will be Tuesday September 5th 2017 at 11am at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with visitation with Father Dominic Tirkey officiating. The family will accept friends on Tuesday, September 5th , 2017 from 10:00am to 11:00am at the church, A luncheon will take place at the church immediately following the burial in Vinewood Cemetery.
